Meaning of the flag of Argentina

The meaning of the colors is somewhat controversial. The white color can symbolize silver, as the first colonizers named the country Argentina, believing that there was a lot of silver there. Blue stripes can symbolize the sky or the waters of the Rio de la Plata. The center of the flag attracts attention with its most striking element - a golden sun with a face inside, radiating rays.     The national flag of the Argentine Republic, often referred to as the Argentine flag (Spanish: bandera argentina), is a triband, composed of three equally wide horizontal bands coloured light blue and white. There are multiple interpretations on the reasons for those colors. The flag was created by Manuel Belgrano, in line with the creation of the Cockade of Argentina, and was first raised at the city of Rosario on February 27, , during the Argentine War of Independence.
